Overview

As part of our effort to improve overall reliability and reduce dependency on a single provider, we’ve developed a new AWS-based streaming platform. This service has been live in production for over a year with other Velocicast partners. Additionally over the past 12 weeks, we’ve been testing and switching additional Independent auctions integrated with Edge — without issue. Importantly, on this platform we have not seen stream disruptions during periods of low or absent audio, and all partners who have tested it have chosen to remain on the AWS solution.

What’s the benefit of the new V-Streamer platform?

If your auction has been experiencing intermittent streaming issues, or if your auctioneers change mics throughout the sale -ending the stream, your auction may benefit from moving to the newer streaming platform.

What do we need to do to switch to V-Streamer?

Place a ticket with Edge Support by calling 1-800-522-8404 or by sending an email with the following information to support@auctionedge.com.

  1. Auction Name

  2. Person Requesting

  3. Technical Contact Name and Phone

  4. Sale Day

While there are no additional steps for you to follow to be switched over, we do request that your technical contact tests your stream prior to sale day.

Real-Time Streaming Connectivity Troubleshooting / Whitelisting

Some commercial dealers have stringent firewall requirements that may prevent the stream from displaying to them. You may consider asking them to check to ensure they’ll be able to see the video feed. They can test their connectivity by completing the following steps:

First use the diagnostic tool to check video:

1. Run the https://diagnostics.ivs.rocks/

2. Confirm whether stream playback or subscription fails.

3. If the diagnostics identify blocked connectivity, contact the organizationʼs IT/network support team with the details below.

AWS IVS Real-Time normally uses UDP for low-latency media.

  • TCP may be used as a fallback when UDP is blocked, but viewing quality and latency may be worse. Allowing UDP is recommended.

If the video feed is blocked, here are the details they can send IT or network support:

  • The auction or event name

  • The approximate date and time of the issue, including time zone

  • Your organization/network name and whether a VPN or corporate proxy is in use

  • A screenshot or result from the AWS IVS Real-Time Diagnostics tool

  • Any visible error message

  • The following network-access request:

Please review outbound firewall, proxy, and VPN rules for AWS IVS Real-Time.

Allow *.live-video.net over TCP 443. Also allow every CIDR tagged

IVS_REALTIME in AWS ip-ranges.json , across all AWS Regions, over

UDP 3478 and 443, plus TCP 3478 and 443 for viewer fallback.
